Have Questions?

A few answers...

before your pet starts supervising your trip plans and planning pet care should feel straightforward. These are the questions most clients ask about visits, routines, communication, vacation rentals, and how care is handled while you're away.

How It Works

... before you pack the bags

What areas do you serve?
Pique Weekenders serves Downeast Maine and surrounding communities. Services support local residents as well as visitors staying in cabins, vacation rentals, hotels, and seasonal homes.

What kinds of pets do you care for?
Cats are the primary focus, but dogs are welcome. Care may also be available for chickens and small household animals depending on needs.

How is pricing determined?

Pique uses custom quotes because pets, households, and routines aren't one-size-fits-all. Published rates are starting points for common services. Your quote may consider the number and type of pets, visit length, medications, location, travel time, household routines, and the overall level of care required. You'll always receive your quote before services are scheduled.

Do you only work weekends?

No. Despite the name, Pique isn't just for weekends. Care is available throughout the week, weekends, holidays, and for extended travel. Availability varies based on location, existing bookings, and the needs of established clients.

What does “routine-first care” mean?
Pets generally do better when familiar routines stay intact. Feeding times, medications, walks, play, sleep schedules, and household expectations are followed as closely as possible to reduce stress and keep things consistent.

How long are visits?
Visit length depends on the service selected and the number of pets in the home. Additional time may be recommended for larger households or pets with more involved care needs.

Can you care for multiple pets?
Yes. Multi-pet households are common. Time recommendations may change depending on feeding routines, medications, exercise needs, and the overall household setup.

Do you give medications?
Basic medications may be administered if instructions are clear and the pet safely accepts them. Please discuss medications before booking.

Will I receive updates?
Yes. Texted visit updates may include notes, photos, and important observations so you know how your pet is doing while you're away.

Can you care for pets in vacation rentals, cabins, or seasonal homes?
Yes. Services are available for visitors traveling with pets. Clear access instructions and property information help make visits run smoothly.

Do you provide home support services?
Optional support may be available, such as plant watering, mail collection, package retrieval, or small household check-ins while you're away.

What if my pet has anxiety or special behavioral needs?
Behavior, environment, and routine all matter. Information about triggers, preferences, fears, and household expectations helps create a better experience.

How do I get started?
Submit a care request with your pet information, dates, and household details. Questions and scheduling can also be discussed before booking.

Do you require a meet-and-greet?
New local clients begin with a meet & greet before their first scheduled service. For vacation/travel clients, requirements may vary depending on the service and location.

What if my plans change?
Changes happen. Cancellation and scheduling policies will apply based on timing and availability.

How do I pay for services?

Your service quote and payment information are provided before care begins. Payment is accepted by cash, check, major credit cards, and PayPal. If you have questions about payment options, just ask.

Still have questions? Your dog may be excited. Your cat is probably undecided. Reach out anyway.
